A New Season Dawns: The Evolution Towards a Happier and Healthier Working World
Updated: Oct 19, 2021
For some of you, autumn represents a new start: you might be feeling refreshed after the summer break and looking to restart the next season with a bang! For others, this time of year represents the downhill stretch towards the end of 2021; the last push to get through until Christmas. At Deskover, this is an exciting season for us, as we look forward to some big things on the horizon!

We have spent the last few months reflecting on our journey so far. Since the launch of Deskover, it has become more and more apparent to us what a powerful tool coworking spaces can be, especially in light of the recent shifts in the working world.
While we had an idea of the advantages they could have for certain people, today it is clear that coworking spaces present valuable benefits to every single individual - regardless of your working style, career path, personality, or ambitions.
We are passionate about contributing to the creation of a happier and healthier working world, and in the next few weeks we will be sharing with you some insights into how you can use coworking solutions to transform the way you work and live.
To kick this off, we look at what is currently happening in the world, tell you a bit about Deskover’s journey to date, and give a sneak peak of what we will be sharing with you in the coming weeks!
The Working World Today
What a ride the past year and a half has been! We have witnessed some very mind-boggling events, cried, laughed, and seen beautiful moments of people pulling together in tough times. Covid-19 and other recent events have disrupted our thinking and triggered some significant behavioural changes, shifting our mindsets like never before.

One of the biggest changes we have seen is in the way people work. From corporate professionals, to creatives, to students – nearly every industry has been forced to make adjustments to their “normal” routine. The pandemic has required unprecedented flexibility in the way we work, and it seems unlikely that things will ever go back to exactly the way they were before.
According to Findstack, 85% of managers believe that having teams with remote workers will become the new norm. They also state that 74% of employees are more likely to stay at a company that offers the option to work remotely.

Working from home has allowed many people to optimise their days and get more work done, whilst freeing up time to do other things like spending more time with family, starting new hobbies, or just having more rest time than they did before.
However, while many people value this freedom and autonomy, others find their productivity, motivation, work-life balance, and mental wellness suffering because of it. For these people, the prospect of remote working becoming a permanent feature in the working world is an unsettling thought.

At Deskover, we have witnessed some of the downfalls to working from home first-hand. For this reason, we have been working hard to create a solution that we believe can address many of these challenges, and promote happy, healthy working lifestyles.
But before we get into that in more detail, let’s go back to the beginning!
Where It All Began
So how did we come about? Deskover was formed in early 2020, and it looked rather different back then compared to what it is today.

Luxembourg is home to a remarkable number of “students” - both full time students as well as business professionals studying part time. We noticed many of them were having a hard time finding a place to study, especially in the evenings and on weekends when libraries are full, cafés are noisy, and homes are often distracting. Our main goal therefore was to locate a place that would address this problem.
During the search, we discovered that Luxembourg has a range of different coworking spaces, and this got us thinking. Why rent out an entire space only for evenings and weekends, when coworking spaces were generally being vacated at precisely those times?
We decided that the best way we could help was to launch an online platform: a single marketplace through which users could quickly and conveniently locate and book their ideal coworking space to study, without the need to resort to Google and sort through the various offerings.

In addition to the time saving, our offering would also save them money. Since our focus group primarily wanted to use the spaces after hours, they could subscribe for off-peak access at a lower fee.
To enhance the convenience and flexibility even further, we developed a unique e-access system, allowing users to access the coworking spaces with a QR code on their phones, without the need for a physical check-in process.
We had succeeded in helping our target group, which was a very proud moment for us! But we looked to the stars and realised there could be much more to Deskover. Our platform was adaptable and advanced enough to be extended to anyone looking to book a coworking space. In doing so we could help even more people achieve their work and study goals with more convenience and flexibility than ever before in Luxembourg.
The Future
As we mentioned above, remote working and a desire for flexibility is becoming an integral part of the working world. However, this presents significant challenges for many people, to varying degrees, regardless of the industry they are in.

Through our journey so far, we have seen that coworking solutions have the potential to not only relieve some of these challenges, but in fact provide benefits that traditional office spaces simply cannot offer! Some of these include:
● Enhanced productivity and efficiency
● Better work-life balance
● Increased creativity and innovation
● Great solutions for startups
● A variety of networking opportunities
● Improved mental wellness
Over the next few weeks, we will be taking a closer look at these benefits and others, and help you identify the various ways in which coworking spaces can help YOU personally.
We want to be part of the evolution towards a happier and healthier working world, and our aim is to help you take hold of it too. Don’t miss out!
